Iran news LIVE: 'Global anti-US fury unleashed,' says Iran foreign minister as Donald Trump threatens cultural sites

The US has created "global anti-US fury and a worldwide rancor" by killing General Qasem Soleimani, Iran's foreign minister has said.

Mohammad Javad Zarif accused Washington of encouraging "extremism and terror" after Donald Trump ramped up his rhetoric against Iran, threatening to target cultural sites.

The fall-out from the US airstrike ordered by President Trump continued today as millions of mourners flooded the streets of Tehran to bid farewell to their former commander and demand revenge for his death.

Meanwhile, the British Government has joined fellow NATO and European leaders in calling for a "de-escalation" in hostilities amid fears of a breakout of war.​
