Iran mourns students and staff killed in school strike as thousands attend funerals

Footage shared by an Iranian news agency appears to show thousands lining the streets for the funerals of students and staff killed in a strike on a primary school.

State media reported that the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' elementary school in Minab was destroyed in an attack on Saturday (28 February) during a joint US-Israeli bombing campaign.

Video released by Tasnim News, an agency in Iran associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, shows graves being prepared for more than 160 people who died when the girls' school was hit.

Neither the US nor Israel has claimed responsibility or confirmed that an attack took place. Iran blamed the US and Israel.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said U.S. forces "would not deliberately target a school."

Israel has said it is investigating the incident.
