- An Iranian-linked hacker group, Handala, has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on U.S.-based medical equipment company Stryker, causing its global systems to go offline.
- The attack, which occurred Wednesday, reportedly left thousands of employees unable to access company systems and resulted in the wiping of over 200,000 systems and the extraction of 50 terabytes of data.
- Handala stated the attack was retaliation for the Minab school attack and ongoing cyber assaults against the “Axis of Resistance,” labelling Stryker a “Zionist-rooted corporation.”
- Stryker, which acquired Israeli medical technology company OrthoSpace in 2019, confirmed a global network disruption to its Microsoft environment but stated there was no indication of ransomware or malware.
- While Stryker is a major supplier to U.S. hospitals, the American Hospital Association has not reported any direct impacts or disruptions to healthcare supply chains as a result of the incident so far.
