- Iran bombed a U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia’s capital Tuesday as the United States raced to evacuate its staff from danger in the Middle East.
- The strike on the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh caused part of its roof to collapse but there were no reported deaths or injuries to staff, according to an internal State Department memo. It followed an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait Monday.
- Non-emergency personnel and their families have been told to evacuate Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
- The U.S. has also urged citizens to leave more than a dozen Middle Eastern countries, though many remain stranded with much of the airspace closed.
- American citizens across 16 countries in the Middle East were told to leave using “available commercial transportation” as several other countries arranged evacuation flights for their citizens.
