INDYCAR is getting its first dedicated video game in more than twenty years with iRacing Studios announcing it’s set to release the title in the second half of 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
Built from the ground up on the studio’s proprietary Orontes engine, the game is being developed by a dedicated team with input from real-world drivers and teams. Among them is Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin, a longtime iRacing fan who has become one of INDYCAR’s most popular figures since moving over from Australian Supercars in 2021.
The game will include a full career mode, online multiplayer and a roster featuring drivers from both the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone. It joins NASCAR 25 and World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing as part of iRacing Studios’ lineup of officially licensed racing titles.
For iRacing, the project continues a long-running relationship with INDYCAR that stretches back to the Papyrus Racing Games era, when the studio’s predecessor released classics like Indianapolis 500: The Simulation in 1989 and IndyCar Racing in the 1990s. Alongside the standalone release, INDYCAR and iRacing have also extended their licensing deal, keeping the series firmly represented in the sim racing world for years to come.
