Ira Winderman: Statement games are on the way for Heat

When you don't make it past the second round of the playoffs for four consecutive seasons, missing out on playoff berths in two of them, the sense of rivalry is diminished.

It has been two decades since the height of Miami Heat-New York Knicks. It has been four years since those consecutive NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. And with LeBron James off to the Los Angeles Lakers, the games against the Cleveland Cavaliers again have no more meaning than the ones against the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets or Chicago Bulls.

But that doesn't mean that the just-announced 2018-19 NBA schedule won't have meaningful moments for the Heat.
