This isn't a time for the Miami Heat to be looking back, anyway, in the midst of the NBA playoffs. But what Thursday's NBA draft lottery results confirmed is that there hardly is a need to look back, anyway.
The Eastern Conference, for the Heat, still is a matter of keeping up with the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics.
With seven of the first nine draft slots going to Eastern Conference teams, it says how much work remains for so many to challenge the East elite.
But that doesn't mean that moves can't be made now that the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets jumped up in the draft process.
Lottery luck has been known to change the equation (unless you're the Heat, then you get Tyler Herro at No. 13, Bam Adebayo at No. 14 and sort of snicker at others praising the whims of the Ping-Pong balls).
So for the lottery seven in the Eastern Conference, a look at where they go from Thursday, and whether the Heat need to glance in their rear-view mirror.
