MIAMI _ For the Miami Heat, All-Star Weekend has been mostly a passive exercise in recent years, save for Goran Dragic's addition as an injury replacement in 2018 and Dwyane Wade's addition as a Commissioner's selection during last season's retirement tour.
Otherwise, no Slam Dunk contestant since Harold Miner in 1995, no entrant in the Skills Challenge since Wade in 2008, no Rising Stars Challenge participant since Norris Cole in 2012, with Wayne Ellington in 2018 the team's most recent Three-Point Contest contestant since James Jones and Mario Chalmers in 2012.
But already there is a buzz that Feb. 14-16 in Chicago could evolve into a team-bonding event, with several possibilities.
