Ipswich Town signing to miss Bolton Wanderers clash as ex-Leeds United defender update given

Ipswich Town summer signing Dom Ball will miss the League One season opener against Bolton Wanderers due to injury.

The 26-year-old joined the Tractor Boys from QPR over the summer. He is one of several acquisition made by the Portman Road outfit this transfer window.

The Suffolk side finished below Wanderers in the table, but have strengthened this summer in a bid to earn promotion out of the division. Alongside Ball, Freddie Ladapo, Greg Legh, Marcus Harness, Leif Davis and the loan signing of Tyreece John-Jules from Arsenal have been acquisitions in a strong window for the Portman Road club.

Ball will not be ready to face Wanderers though. He has not featured in the club's last two pre-season friendlies owing to a knock.

But speaking ahead of taking on the Whites, McKenna confirmed that new signing Davis is fit and available for selection. He joined Ipswich from Premier League side Leeds United earlier this week.

Speaking to iFollow Ipswich, McKenna said: "Dom is not available for tomorrow. He’ll hopefully return to the grass with the group next week.

"Dom needs a little bit more time but everyone else is available. Leif is ready to make an impact straight away.

"He looks fit and he’s played in four of Leeds’ pre-season friendlies already. He’s fit, ready and available for selection."
