Ipswich council contractor charged with official corruption

Mr Innes' landfill company had several contracts with the council.

An Ipswich City Council contractor has been charged with official corruption, fraud and misconduct in the latest arrests in the region, Queensland's Crime and Corruption Commission says.

The ABC understands the contractor is 57-year-old Wayne Francis Innes, who is due to front the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

It comes a day after Ipswich council chief executive officer Jim Lindsay was arrested with official corruption and senior officer Craig Maudsley was charged with misconduct.

The charges against Maudsley, the council's chief operating officer (COO) of works, parks and recreation, relate to his alleged dishonestly in gaining a benefit for Innes.

Innes' landfill company, Landfill Logistics, had several contracts with the council.

Maudsley has been suspended from immediate duties on full remuneration.

Ipswich Mayor Andrew Antoniolli said in a statement on Thursday that Lindsay was on immediate leave and the council was seeking urgent legal advice to determine its options.
