NEW DELHI: Hyderabad witnessed a historic day as Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched a thrilling victory over Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in a high-scoring encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.
Batting first, Sunrisers embarked on a record-breaking spree, posting an astounding 277/3 in their allotted 20 overs. This remarkable total shattered the IPL record for the highest-ever team total, previously held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (263/5 vs Pune Warriors India) in 2013.
In reply, Mumbai Indians launched a valiant pursuit but fell short, accumulating 246/5 in their 20 overs. Nonetheless, their total became the highest second-innings score in IPL history.
The combined total of 523 runs marked a new milestone in T20 cricket, becoming the highest match aggregate ever recorded, surpassing the previous record set in a T20I between South Africa and West Indies.
It was the first time the match aggregate crossed the 500-run mark in IPL history.
Sunrisers' formidable batting lineup, led by Heinrich Klaasen (80* off 34), Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23), and Travis Head (62 off 24), propelled them to their historic total. Aiden Markram's contribution of 42 off 28 balls added to Mumbai Indians' woes.

The match where the world witnessed the “Gayle Storm” at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium. On April 23, 2013, Chris Gayle left Pune Warriors India (now-defunct) shattered as records tumbled every step of the way. He scorched his way to 175* runs off just 66 balls at a strike rate of 265.15 with 13 boundaries and 17 sixes which remains the highest individual score in IPL and T20 cricket.

5/10:RCB - 263/5 vs PWI (2013)

It was also the fastest century in the IPL while the Proteas AB de Villiers smoked 31 runs off just 8 balls to help RCB to post a mammoth 263/5, the second highest team score in IPL history. This is also RCB's highest score in the IPL. PWI in reply couldn't even get close to the target and were restricted to 133/9 in their 20 overs.
Kyle Mayers cracked 24-ball 54. Ayush Badoni (43off 24) at No.3 wasted no time and Marcus Stoinis (72 off 40) at 4 worked wonders and and Nicholas Pooran made 45 in 19 balls.

AP8/10:RCB - 248/3 vs GL (2016)

RCB have a rich history over the years of some of the fiercest batters in world cricket playing for them in the IPL.
Gayle fell early in the innings but the run-machine Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers decided to treat the Bengaluru crowd. The duo combined for a record-breaking 229-run stand for the second wicket as RCB thumped their way to 248/3.

10/10:RCB - 248/3 vs GL (2016)

Kohli finished on 109 runs off 55 balls, his innings included 5-fours and 8-sixes whereas De Villiers smashed 129* runs off 55 balls. The target proved to be too steep for GL who were restricted to 104 in the 19th over. De Villiers was named Player of the Match for his stellar innings.

Despite a spirited effort from Mumbai's Tilak Varma (64 off 34) and Tim David (42* off 22), Sunrisers' monumental total proved insurmountable. While Mumbai's batters showed resilience, the task ultimately proved too formidable as Sunrisers emerged victorious in a match that will be remembered for its record-breaking feats.
