IPL mega auction: Fast bowlers in demand as teams spend over Rs 150 crore

Trying to bag the best of fast-bowling talent on offer, the 10 franchises went all out for pacers at the two-day Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Jeddah, spending in excess of Rs 150 crore.

India's left-arm pacer and T20 World Cup star Arshdeep Singh remained the costliest fast bowler as the left-armer took home Rs 18 crore after Punjab Kings chose to use the Right-to-Match card to retain him.

Meanwhile, five-time champions Mumbai Indians opened their coffers to bring back their former player in the form of veteran New Zealand pacer Trent Boult for Rs 12.50 crore; and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) went all out to get Australian Josh Hazlewood in their camp for the same amount.

Veteran swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar surprised many as he generated a lot of interest and was sold for Rs 10.75 crore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
