NEW DELHI: Following their 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season victory, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) set a record for the fewest losses suffered by a team in a single competition.
Under Shreyas Iyer's direction, KKR won their third championship after thrashing Sunrisers Hyderabad 8 wickets in the final.
The Kolkata-based team only lost thrice in IPL 2024. Only against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Rajasthan Royals (RR) did Shreyas Iyer's team suffer a loss.
The previous record for the fewest losses for a side in an IPL season belonged to the Rajasthan Royals, who lost thrice in the 2008 campaign.
Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, lost twice in the extra over but suffered three straight losses in the IPL 2020.
