IPL 2022: SCA congratulates Ravindra Jadeja for Chennai Super Kings captaincy

MUMBAI: Ravindra Jadeja's home association - the Saurashtra Cricket Association, on Thursday congratulated the India all-rounder for becoming the captain of the Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja has replaced the legendary MS Dhoni as the CSK captain for IPL 15, which will begin in Mumbai on Saturday night.

"The SCA heartily congratulates Saurashtra’s superhero Jadeja on becoming the skipper of CSK in IPL-2022. From being the Saurashtra skipper in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under 19 tournament and the Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 tournament in 2005-06, to becoming the skipper of CSK in IPL-2022, the successful journey of Jadeja continues. At present, he is ranked the No 1 all-rounder by the ICC in the Test format. Ravindra has continued showing remarkable performances in all formats of the game. He has represented Saurashtra in 44 Ranji Trophy matches so far, hitting 8 centuries including three triple tons and two double tons, and has captured 188 wickets including 16 five-wicket hauls in an innings, and five 10-wicket hauls in the match," the SCA said in a statement.

Niranjan Shah with Ravindra Jadeja

Niranjan Shah, former secretary of BCCI and SCA, said, "It is indeed a moment of pride for us as Jadeja is now the skipper of CSK in IPL-2022. More so, as the leadership to him was handed over by none other than the legendary Dhoni. The leadership shall give Ravindra a new identity in Indian cricket. Ravindra has continued performing exceptionally well in all formats of the game. I am pretty confident that in his new role as the CSK skipper, Ravindra shall continue his successful journey. And I sincerely hope that one day he will be leading Team India too."

Jaydev Shah, SCA president said, "I am delighted to see that the leadership of CSK has been bestowed upon Ravindra for IPL-2022. I have played with Ravindra and seen him closely ever shining with bat and ball, and also in fielding. Recently, I witnessed his amazing knock of 175 in a Test against Sri Lanka and also saw taking nine wickets in the same match. I wish him all the success in his new avatar as the CSK skipper."
