IPL 2021: Wanted to bowl googly as it was Suryakumar Yadav's first ball, says Ravi Bishnoi

DUBAI: Punjab Kings' (PBKS) spinner Ravi Bishnoi said the reason why he bowled a googly first up to Suryakumar Yadav in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Mumbai Indians' (MI) was because the batsman had just walked in.

MI put on a clinical show with both bat and the ball as they defeated PBKS by six wickets on Tuesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. MI chased the target of 136 in 19 overs for the loss of just four wickets.

Suryakumar was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Bishnoi.

"I kept it simple, I bowled wicket-to-wicket. The ball I bowled to Suryakumar, I knew it was his first ball, so I bowled a googly. It is difficult to play googly first up. I have worked on my googly," he added.

Saurabh Tiwary (45) and Hardik Pandya starred with the bat for MI. Hardik smashed an unbeaten 40 to carry his team over the line. Kieron Pollard also played an important innings of 15 not out. Pollard also took two wickets for the defending champions as they restricted PBKS to 135.

Punjab Kings will next square off against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL on Friday.
