iPhone and Android users will finally get Mario Kart next week - here's how to get it first

One of the most popular console games of all time is about to make the leap to smartphones, with a version for Apple and Android devices coming this month.

Mario Kart Tour will officially launch on September 25 and players will be able to choose which drivers, karts and gliders they’d like to use in races across a variety of courses.

A Nintendo spokesman said: “This new Mario Kart game goes beyond Rainbow Road, with special city courses that let players race through courses inspired by actual locations like New York, Tokyo and Paris.”

As well as courses based on cities, some of the iconic characters - which could include Mario, Princess Peach and Luigi - will also get variations that incorporate the ‘local flavour’ of cities, according to Nintendo.

While there’s still a week to wait before you can get your hands on the game, Nintendo has released a teaser video and gameplay trailer - and the game looks amazing, reports The Mirror.

To make sure you’re one of the first to get the game, you can pre-register on the App Store and Google Play Store now.

The game will be free to download.
