Apple Inc.'s new iPhone 13 went on sale Friday morning at Apple stores and mobile carrier shops across the country.
The new iPhone's four models boast large-capacity batteries and high-performance cameras that can record cinematic videos by automatically focusing on people or other objects.
At the Apple Marunouchi store in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, about 20 people were lined up before the doors opened at 8 a.m. Due to preventive measures against the novel coronavirus, the store only allowed in those who made an advance reservation.
"I want to take videos with the upgraded camera as soon as possible," said a 26-year-old company employee from Sumida Ward, Tokyo.
All four versions of the iPhone 13, which went on sale simultaneously, can access 5G broadband cellular networks.
The standard version iPhone 13 is priced from 98,800 yen at Apple stores, while prices at the four major mobile carriers selling the smartphone will vary.
