Apple's iPhone 12 price leaks and it appears to be even more eye-wateringly expensive

There’s likely only a few months to go before Apple launches its next iPhone, and in the run-up to the launch, rumours are rife.

The latest rumour hints at the price for the iPhone 12, and indicates that the smartphone won’t be cheap.

Jeff Pu, an analyst at Yuanta Investment Consulting, has provided a research note to MacRumours that forecasts that the iPhone 12 will start at $749.

For comparison, the starting price for last year’s iPhone 11 was $699.

This price increase would come despite the fact that the iPhone 12 is expected to ship without EarPods or a wall charger.

However, Mr Pu suggests that there’s a key reason why Apple is increasing its prices - 5G.

Unlike many of its competitors, Apple is yet to launch a 5G smartphone, and it seems that 2020 could be the year for it.

If Mr Pu’s prediction is correct, it indicates that iPhone 12 Max would cost around $50 to $100 more than the iPhone 12, bring the cost to $799 or $849.

Aside from 5G, rumours suggest that the iPhone 12 could have several impressive features.

Like the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 should feature two rear cameras, while the iPhone 12 Pro models will likely add a third telephoto lens.

Meanwhile, the 2020 iPhones are expected to have a slimmer design than their predecessors, with flatter sides.

As always, Apple is remaining tight-lipped about its 2020 offerings, and is yet to announce a launch event.

However, the tech giant usually hosts an iPhone launch event in early September, so watch this space!
