The Intellectual Property Department has processed 3,799 cases of intellectual property rights violation with 2.04 million items seized in the first half of this year.
Director-general Thosapone Dansuputra said this was 1.16% more than the same period in 2016. Most of the seized products were clothing, bags, shoes and mobile phone accessories.
He said the department had coordinated with the Royal Thai Police Office, the Economic Crime Suppression Division, the Customs Department and the private sector who own the intellectual property rights.
Mr Thosapone said the department had taken the offensive in setting up centres to lead crackdowns in areas such as Chatuchak market and MBK Centre in Bangkok, as well as Rong Kluea market in Sa Kaeo province.
