Iowa’s offense helped TE Noah Fant transition to life in the NFL

Iowa tight end Noah Fant had to know multiple positions with the Hawkeyes, which helped him become a knowledgable and versatile player. That versatility has helped make his transition into the Broncos’ offense easier.

“I would say what helps me the most is I had to know two different positions [at Iowa],” Fant said on May 10. “I had to know the ‘Y’ and the ‘F.’ Understanding offenses conceptually instead of just focusing on one position helped me a lot moving into the NFL.

“Now it’s easy for me to pick up these things having learned that in college — having to learn conceptually. I would say that was the biggest advantage from learning the Iowa offense.”

Fant hauled in 69 receptions for 1,013 yards and 18 touchdowns during his final two seasons with the Hawkeyes. If that kind of production can carry over into the NFL, Denver’s offense will be greatly improved in 2019.

Teaming up with quarterback Joe Flacco — who likes to target tight ends — could turn out to be a dream scenario for Fant.
