Iowa hit by most widespread drought in seven years, agriculture secretary says

Iowa, the biggest U.S. corn-producing state, is facing its most widespread drought since September 2013, state agriculture secretary Mike Naig said on Friday.

The drought has compounded problems for farmers ahead of the autumn harvest, after a severe windstorm flattened corn fields and destroyed grain storage bins on Aug. 10. [nL1N2FL1LI]
