Iowa DL Daviyon Nixon declares for 2021 NFL draft

One of the nation’s best interior defensive linemen has announced that he’s leaving school for the next level.

Iowa’s Daviyon Nixon announced via his social media Wednesday afternoon that he is foregoing his remaining eligibility and declaring for the 2021 NFL draft.

The former JUCO transfer has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2020 college football season. You would have been hard pressed to find any buzz on Nixon prior to this campaign, but he was dominant for the Hawkeyes. Nixon’s play lead to him being named as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

In a position class that lacks clear-cut talent at the top, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Nixon establish himself as the No. 1 defensive linemen available.
