Apple’s developer conference WWDC is right around the corner and that means we’re about to hear all the news on iOS 13, the next Apple mobile operating software.
The new OS will be announced on June 3 in California, though the actual release won’t be until September, with the new iPhones for 2019.
As part of the rumours for the iOS 13, it looks like there are a few older iPhones which are going to miss out on the next update.
According to ZDNet (via The Verifier), it looks like the iPhone 5S, iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ are going to be cut from the iPhone update list.
If you have an iPad Mini 2 or an iPad Air, they will also not be receiving iOS 13.
However, devices from iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S+ and beyond will get to experience the software update, with all the fun features and security updates that come with it.
What is coming to iOS 13?
One of the big features for iOS 13 looks to be “Dark Mode”. Apple implemented a dark mode on the new macOS software last year, citing that a darker design can often make people more productive.
Google is looking to implement a dark mode in Android Q as well, so it’s about time the mode was coming to iPhones.
New emojis will most certainly be on the way in iOS 13. Emojipedia released the lists of the new emojis that will be coming to platforms and devices throughout the year back on World Emoji Day in February. There is a big focus on inclusivity including emojis featuring various disabilities and gender inclusive couples.

The waffle emoji will finally be coming to the iPhone for the first time too for all your brunch needs.
There’s going to be a few updates coming to the iPad including a newly designed home screen, new multitasking capabilities and the option to use the iPad as a second screen to a Mac device. Very handy indeed.
