iOS 13 flaw could let hackers access your iPhone contact list without a passcode

It hasn’t even been released yet, but Apple ’s iOS 13 operating system is already proving problematic.

Security researcher Jose Rodriguez has discovered a flaw in the system that could let hackers access your iPhone , even if they don’t have the passcode.

As demonstrated in a video on his YouTube channel, the exploit involves activating a FaceTime call, before accessing the voiceover feature from Siri to access the contact list.

This could allow hackers to access any phone numbers, address or email address you have stored in your contact list.

Speaking to The Verge , Mr Rodriguez confirmed that he reported the flaw to Apple on July 17th.

Despite this, it seems that the flaw is still present in the version of iOS 13 that is scheduled to launch on September 19.

However, Mr Rodriguez says that the exploit appears to be fixed in beta copies of iOS 13.1, which Apple will release on September 13.

The iPhone 11 Pro has arrived

iOS 13 is due to be released next week, giving users access to most of the features in the newly-released iPhone 11.

These include Dark Mode, Apple Arcade, Sign in with Apple, a Google Street View-like Maps experience, and a range of new photo and video editing tools.

Mirror Online has contacted Apple for comment.
