
International Olympic Committee (IOC) Vice President John Coates, who chairs the Coordination Commission for the Tokyo Games, arrived in Japan on Tuesday morning to coordinate final preparations for the Games, which are slated to kick off July 23. He is scheduled to stay in the country until the end of the Olympics.
After arriving at Haneda Airport from Australia, Coates was transported to a Tokyo hotel. After a three-day quarantine, he will visit the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to coordinate final preparations, according to the committee.
IOC President Thomas Bach is scheduled to arrive in Japan in mid-July.
