Ioan Gruffudd returns to hit drama Liar - despite being murdered at the end of series 1

It's been almost two years since we discovered that Ioan Gruffudd's evil character,  Andrew Earlham, was a rapist in the hit TV show Liar and now the villain is back for a second series.

The ITV drama, which also stars Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt, drew 9.1m viewers for its series one climax in 2017 which saw Earlham's body found on the Kent marshes.

Series two picks up three weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for Earlham's arrest for the sexual assault of 19 women. The fact that the story looks into Andrew Earlham's past and the events leading to his murder means that the Welsh actor was able to return to the hit show.

The first series followed a 'did-he-or-didn't-he' format and took the viewer through twists and turns over whether he raped Froggatt's character, Laura.

Joining Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd for this final chapter are a number of new characters including Katherine Kelly (Cheat, Mr Selfridge, The Night Manager) as DI Karen Renton, Howard Charles (The Widow, Musketeers) as Carl Peterson and Amy Nuttall (Downton Abbey, My Fair Lady) as Winnie Peterson.

Do you remember the moment from Liar when we found out the truth about Andrew?

Keeping Faith fans can now follow a new trail of the TV show's most famous locations

Liar is yet to have an air date for its returns to ITV.
