Invite to have you say on housing plans

A public consultation is being held this month to let locals have their say on a new proposed 160-home estate in Bathgate.

Taylor Wimpey will be looking for views on their draft proposals for the development of new homes at Eastoun.

The company is proposing to build around 160 new homes, of which 15 per cent will be affordable, on land at Eastoun on the western edge of Bathgate.

The proposal includes a mix of homes ranging from two bedrooms to five bedrooms, the provision of high-quality landscaping and public park, wildlife enhancements, improved biodiversity on site and cleaning up of the burn.

It would also provide opportunities for our customers to engage with nature and integrate with wildlife and potential improvements to The Easton Bing public path and restoration of The Bathgate Water.

A spokesperson said: “We are at the early stages of design development and we would like your input into shaping the final proposals for an application in September 2022.”

The online consultation will take place on June 20 between 3pm and 7pm.

Those taking part will be invited to ask questions via a chatbox. If the developers cannot answer your question immediately we will let you know and respond in time.

The spokesperson continued: “This consultation event has been set up to inform you about] proposed residential development at Eastoun, Bathgate, which is located on the western edge of the town, just off Easton Road and close to the A800, Balmuir Road. This forms part of the formal Pre-Application consultation process, the purpose of which is for you to have your say on the proposed development.

“You can drop in on an online event, where you will have the opportunity to use a chat box to discuss any concerns or you can leave comments via the website.

“The online ‘chat’ consultation event, where you will have opportunity to talk to the team from Taylor Wimpey, is being held on June 20 between 3pm and 7pm. The chat-box can be accessed via www.holderplanning.com/eastoun

“A Feedback Form is available on the website to allow people to make comments.

“If you would like some time to think about your comments you can send them to us using the contact details at the end of the presentation."
