Ahead of launch, you should remind yourself what happened in Invincible's last installment and find out more about what's in store for Mark Grayson in its next chapter. To that end, I've rounded up the biggest and latest news on the adult animated show, including its trailers, cast list, plot details, and the future of the Amazon TV Original. Here's everything we know so far, then, about Invincible season 4.

As I mentioned in this article's introduction, the R-rated series' next entry will be released on March 18. Prime Video announced that release date alongside Invincible season 4's official trailer (more on this shortly).
We already knew that the show would return in early 2026, with the first teaser for Invincible's fourth season previously revealing a March 2026 launch window. Now, we can finally put that "where's season [X], William?" meme to bed for another year.
Invincible season 4 trailer
Released last October, Invincible season 4's first teaser followed in the footsteps of two of its three predecessors by getting an amusing Burger Mart-set teaser teaser that acts as a bridge between last season and its next installment.
Three months later, Prime Video unveiled this season's official trailer, which revealed the new heroes and villains we'll see in chapter 4, plus the start of the Viltumite War – i.e. one of the fiercest battles in Invincible's comic book series namesake. Check it out below:

Aside from the final three names on that extensive list, everyone else has appeared in one or more seasons of Invincible.
Where this season's newcomers are concerned, Rhys was confirmed to be voicing Dinosaurus at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2025. Then, at New York Comic-Con last October, Lee Pace was confirmed to be playing Grand Regent Thragg, aka Invincible's Big Bad.
Lastly, The Walking Dead alumnus and Black Panther star Danai Gurira was confirmed to be playing Universa when new images for Invincible season 4 were released in late January.

There are other prominent characters, such as Space Racer, who are introduced in the next 12 to 15 issues of Invincible's source material and will appear this season. However, the voice actors for Space Racer and Tech Jacket, who had a non-speaking cameo in Invincible season 3 episode 7, haven't been publicly named yet. Additionally, this season's official trailer revealed the now-teenage Oliver will have a new voice actor, but their identity has been disclosed, either.
There are a few characters who, potential flashback sequences aside, won't return.
Rex Sloan/Rex Splode won't be back after his death in season 3 episode 7. Darkwing II also seemingly perished in that battle, so he isn't likely to be back. The Mauler Twins' time on the show is similarly over after Oliver killed them in last season's third episode. Finally, Aaron Paul revealed (via Kinda Funny Games) that he declined to return as Powerplex because it was "way too gruelling on my psyche [and] it was a skin I didn't feel comfortable in."
Invincible season 4 story speculation

Here's the logline for Invincible season 4: "While the world recovers from catastrophe, a changed Mark fights to protect his home and the people he loves, setting him on a collision course with a threat that could alter the fate of humanity forever."
Need a reminder of what happened last time? My Invincible season 3 ending explained piece is the best place to start. However, that article doesn't reveal everything about last season's finale so, if you want more hints about this season's plot, I'll reveal more after the image below. Full spoilers immediately follow for Invincible season 3 and the graphic novel series it's based on!

One of the first big storylines season 4 needs to resolve is the sequids-centric one. The parasitic lifeforms made their animated debut in season 1 episode 4 and have been a regular thorn in Mark's side ever since.
With the alien race making their way to Earth in season 2 episode 8 – read my Invincible season 2 part 2 ending explained article for more details – they pose a huge threat to Earth's human population. Expect this to be the first big test for Mark and his fellow heroes post-Conquest.
That won't be the only problem Mark has to contend with. After Mark seemingly killed Conquest in last season's finale, it turns out the second-most powerful Viltrumite warrior is still alive. He's being kept in a secure and secret Global Defence Agency (GDA) location miles beneath the Earth's surface. The reason? Once Conquest wakes up from his coma, Cecil wants information on the Viltrum Empire and how it can be defeated. I can't see that going badly for Cecil and company...

So, yes, Conquest will return, but I won't reveal when or what awaits Mark when he does. Let's just say if Mark was mad that Cecil lied to him over D.A. Sinclair's reformation and continuing work on the ReAnimen, he's going to be apoplectic when he learns Conquest isn't dead.
It won't help that Mark will continue to grapple with the fallout to his fight with Conquest, which has changed his outlook on the kind of hero he needs to be. Speaking to Forbes, Invincible co-creator Robert Kirkman teased: "Mark is on a journey to discover who he is. That’s really the thrust of his story as he moves from adolescence into adulthood. I believe that, at his core, Mark is a good person, but as he grows as a person and adjusts his methods to accomplish his goals... he may not always seem like a good person or a hero."

Elsewhere, next season will also spend more time with everyone's favorite interracial bromance: Allen the Alien and Nolan Grayson.
The pair haven't had much screen time over the last two seasons, but that'll change soon as they attempt to track down allies and weapons to help them and the Coalition of Planets (CoP) in their upcoming fight against the Viltrum Empire.
They'll need all the help they can get, too, because season 4 is leading up to the Viltrumite War, which is far larger and more devastating than the Invincible War. I won't spoil anything else, but you'll want to prepare yourself for a battle for the ages.
There are plenty of other subplots to be resolved and new ones that'll be introduced in Invincible 4. There's going to be more melodrama for Mark and Eve to deal with, the return of established villains who'll need to be put in their place, Immortal and Dupli-Kate settling down to start a family, another reboot of the Guardians of the Globe's line-up, and so much more.

One the new storyline front, one will focus on Damien Darkblood, the demon detective who was banished from Earth by Cecil midway through the show's first season.
That's where his story ends in the comics, but last season's finale confirmed Darkblood will be back in some capacity. Nobody knows how it'll factor into the overarching narrative but, chatting to Variety, Kirkman teased of this new material: "Every superhero story has some chapter where they go to hell and they fight the devil. It happens in DC and Marvel comics. It’s a big deal.
"I never got around to doing anything like that in Invincible. I kept getting side-tracked and there was never a good time. So, it’s entirely possible that we may be doing something like that in the show, and that scene at the end of that episode is setting that up."

Is Invincible season 5 going to happen?
Season 5, Mark... this is GOOD NEWS pic.twitter.com/Kft2aTuS5SJuly 17, 2025
Yes! Last July, Amazon confirmed Invincible season 4 won't be the show's latest installment, so a fifth season in on the way.
Season 5, which Kirkman and company are already "deep into production" on (per Collider), might not be the last one, either. Kirkman has regularly said he wants Invincible's TV adaptation to tell the full story depicted in source material And, speaking at SDCC (per IGN), he said seven to nine seasons would be needed to do that.
Currently, each eight-episode season is adapting between 15 and 20 comic book issues. Invincible ran for 144 issues so, if the show maintains that output with each new installment, it should take eight to nine seasons to round out Mark's journey. Here's hoping that'll be the case because, as an Invincible diehard, I don't want season 5 to be its last hurrah.
