Invicta FC Phoenix Rising Series 1 weigh-ins: Tournament shuffled due to weight issues

Invicta FC’s one-night, eight-woman tournament to crown a new strawweight champion had some last-minute adjustments after two fighters were pulled from the tourney on weigh-in day Thursday.

Mizuki Inoue (13-5), who was scheduled to face Sharon Jacobson (5-4) in the quarterfinals of the tourney at “Invicta FC: Phoenix Rising Series 1” on Friday night in Kansas City, Kan., was pulled from the card due to weigh-cut complications before attempting to hit the scales. She was replaced in the fight by alternate Amber Brown (7-5).

Then, Janaisa Morandin (10-2) was scratched from the card after missing weight for her scheduled bout with Brianna Van Buren (5-2). She’s been replaced by reserve Manjit Kolekar (11-2).

Quarterfinal and semifinal bouts will be one round each, with the finals a three-round affair.
