Investigative reporter tells Congress how he found documents linking Manson murders to CIA mind control experiments

An investigative reporter has told Congress how he discovered documents linking the Manson murders to the CIA’s clandestine mind control experiments known as MKUltra.

Tom O’Neill, who spent 20 years researching and writing his book Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties, appeared in front of the Mind Control and Accountability: Uncovering the Truth of the CIA’s MKULTRA Project hearing on Capitol Hill.

During his opening statement, he revealed how he discovered correspondence between  Dr. Louis Jolyon West, a psychiatrist who in 1967 shared office space in San Francisco with a clinic which provided free medical care to Charles Manson and his followers before their notorious murder spree, and Dr Sidney Gottlieb, the architect of the CIA’s LSD experiments conducted on willing and unwitting subjects between 1953 and 1973.

Much remains unknown about the extent of the research because documents were destroyed before the hearings held by the Church Committee in the 1970s.
