Investigations underway after Irishman found dead on street in St Petersburg, Russia

An investigation is underway after the remains of an Irishman were found in a street in Russia.

Local media named the man as Sean Quinn who was discovered in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday outside an apartment block in the Primorsky area in St Petersburg.

The 52-year-old finance executive had been staying at a hotel in the city centre which was an hour’s drive away.

Mr Quinn’s injuries were consistent with a fall from a height.

A post mortem will be taking place.

A police spokesperson told a local radio station: “We are checking.”

The Department of Foreign Affairs said: “We are aware of the case and providing consular assistance.”
