An investigation is under way into an alleged breach of Covid-19 restrictions by a number of Monaghan GAA footballers.
It is understood that a dossier on the incident was sent to a number of parties, including the Department of Justice.
The Irish Independent reports that the dossier includes video and photographic evidence of a training session taking place and has been forwarded on to the GAA, An Garda Siochana and the Department of Health by the Department of Justice.
A GAA spokesperson told the paper: “As with all of these incidents that are brought to our attention, we will investigate it thoroughly.”
It is reported that the alleged breach took place in the last weekend of March.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Following receipt of a complaint, An Garda Síochána is making enquiries into alleged breaches of Covid Regulations at a sports grounds in the north of the country.
"The Health Act 1947 (Section 31A-Temporary Restrictions) (Covid-19) (No.10) Regulations 2020, as amended, are currently in force.
"Regulation 11 places restriction on training events. Regulation 11 is not declared to be a penal regulation.
"If Gardaí identify potential breaches of the public health regulations (travel restrictions) a Fixed Payment Notice or Notices may be issued where appropriate."
A Department of Justice spokesperson commented: "Following receipt of an anonymous letter with information regarding this matter, the Department forwarded the information to the GAA, An Garda Síochána, and the Department of Health for their appropriate attention."
The news comes after at least nine Dublin footballers were pictured taking part in a training session last week.
Dublin manager Dessie Farrell has been landed with a 12-week ban by his own county board after the pictures emerged of the players training at Innisfails GAA Club grounds.
The GAA will unveil its revised schedule for the 2021 inter-county season this afternoon.
