Investigation underway after 'patch of blood' discovered in Nottingham city centre

Police have issued a statement after several streets and pavements were cordoned off this morning (August 22).

Officers arrived at the scene on Beck Street after reports just before 8am on Sunday (August 22).

The patch of blood was spotted on a section of the path behind the Shell Petrol Station.

Earlier this morning, a stretch of pavement between Pryzm nightclub in Lower Parliament Street and the petrol station was initially cordoned off and police were in the area.

Traffic on Lower Parliament Street operated as usual, although Beck Street and Convent Street were shut.

The cordons have now been removed but a small scene will remain in place until police have completed the investigation.

Inspector Ben Lawrence, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I can confirm we are investigating following the discovery of a patch of blood in a city-centre location on Beck Street, which was reported to us just before 8am this morning.

"A number of streets were initially cordoned off as part of our investigation.

"These cordons have now been removed but a small scene will remain in place until crime scene investigators have completed all forensic work.

“We will be looking at CCTV to establish what may have happened, but to reassure residents we have not had any reports into us of any serious assault in this location at this time.

"If anyone has any information I would urge them to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 0225 of August 2021.”
