A person has been found dead following a fire at a property in Ngunnawal this week.

ACT police said they were called to a unit complex in Paul Coe Crescent, Ngunnawal at 12.20am on Wednesday.

A search of the premises, which was delayed due to concerns over the structural integrity of the building, located a body about 12.40pm.

After the fire was extinguished in the night, the resident of the home remained unaccounted for.

The blaze caused major damage to the neighbouring property.

ACT Policing said they would investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire and prepare a report for the coroner.
