Investigation underway after 11-year-old boy hit by car, and driver doesn't stop

Police are hunting the driver of a silver Ford Focus that hit a child before driving off.

Emergency services were called to Lower Seedley Road in Salford on January 10 to reports of a crash.

GMP say the car had been driving along the street at around 5.20pm when it hit an 11-year-old boy.

The driver didn't stop, and drove off onto Coomassie Street toward Seedley Road.

The youngster was taken to hospital and is now recovering at home.

It is understood the collision happened near to Holy Family Catholic Primary School.

An investigation has been launched, and officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.

PC Scott Dowell of GMP’s Salford District said: "Thankfully the boy has made a good recovery following the collision.

"Were you in the area at the time? If you witnessed the collision, have dashcam footage or any information that may assist us, please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5065 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
