Investigation under way after paint thrown at a house in Gateshead

An investigation has been launched after paint was thrown at a house in Gateshead.

Police were called at around 6.10am on Monday to reports that a man had thrown paint on the outside of a property on Derwent Crescent in Swalwell.

Officers say they are trying to identify the person responsible and "establish a motive behind the attack".

Now, they have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Enquiries to identify the person responsible, and establish a motive behind the attack, are ongoing.

"Now officers have released images of a man they want to speak to about the criminal damage in the hope that someone knows his identity.

"Anyone who recognises him, or knows his identity, is encouraged to contact police on 101 quoting log 122 06/01/20."
