Investigation launched into racist attack on woman at Castle Marina Retail Park

An investigation has been launched into a "distressing" verbal attack towards an Asian woman.

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the racially aggravated public order offence.

The incident happened at 2.30pm on March 26 at the Castle Marina Retail Park.

The male suspect is described as white, in his 30s, shaved head, quite tall, wearing orange builder clothes, carrying a carrier bag and had a bottle of what looked like cough mixture which he was drinking.

Police Constable Paul Simm who is leading the investigation said: "The force takes public order offences like this very seriously.

"The words he said has led to distress for the victim and were totally out of order and unacceptable. I'd like to thank the victim for being brave enough to report the incident.

"Obviously in the current climate we are struggling to secure any possible CCTV from retail premises in light of the COVID 19 pandemic, so we are asking the public to help.

"If you were in the area, perhaps driving/walking to the nearby supermarkets, and saw anything suspicious or that matched the description please get in touch."

If you have any information ring 101, quoting incident number 433 of 26 March 2020.
