Investigation launched after window shot by suspected firearm in Fawdon

A window has been shot by a suspected firearm in Fawdon.

Police were called out at 11.31pm on Thursday after reports of the incident on Dykefield Avenue.

At the scene, officers found a suspected bullet lodged in a window frame and have now launched an investigation.

 

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 11.31pm yesterday (Thursday), officers received a report that a window of an address on Dykefield Avenue, Fawdon, had been damaged by a suspected firearm.

“Police attended the scene and found a suspected bullet lodged in the window frame. Nobody was injured but an investigation has been launched into the incident.

“Officers remain in the area today to carry out enquiries.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1201 130220.”
