Investigation launched after Wigan man stabbed by stranger outside Warrington McDonald's

An investigation has been launched after a young man from Wigan was stabbed in Warrington.

The victim was a group of friends outside McDonald's on Folly Lane when they were approached by a stranger.

The man then produced a large knife and attacked the 21-year-old victim, causing serious injuries.

The knife attack took place at about 3.20am this morning (Saturday, March 7).

Cheshire Police said the victim was rushed to Whiston Hospital.

His condition is described as stable.

A 21-year-old man from Warrington has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Police are appealing for information.

Det Insp Nick Henderson said: “As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack, or anyone with any information which may assist with our investigation.

“The same goes for anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the incidents and thinks they may have dashcam footage which may be relevant to the investigation.”

Anyone with information or footage is asked to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 quoting IML654821.
