Investigation launched after 'unsettling' street light problem across Bristol

Council chiefs have launched an investigation after a "strange" fault led to street lights repeatedly fading on and off.

A bizarre video, showing the malfunction on Tuesday night (January 12), was shared after dozens of people reported the "unsettling" light show.

Several readers contacted Bristol Live about the issue in the early hours of Wednesday, (January 13), and there were also scores of reports from across the county on social media.

Dave Oliva Arbues shared the video above from a residential street in Bradley Stoke, describing the "strange happenings" from his window.

A spokesperson for South Gloucestershire Council said: “We can confirm that the problem which is causing some of our street lights to turn off and on again, is also occurring in other areas of the UK.

"We are currently investigating the matter and are in contact with the company that manages the infrastructure to resolve the issue.”
