Investigation launched after 'unconfirmed reports of shots being fired' in St Helens street

Police are investigating after early morning reports of shots being fired in a Merseyside street this morning.

Merseyside Police were called to Wasdale Avenue in St Helens on Sunday morning to investigate reports of gunshots in the road.

After a search, no signs of damage was found and there have been no reports of injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate and have asked anyone with information to contact them.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Officers are investigating an unconfirmed report of shots fired in St Helens in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 31 October.

"At 5.05am, a report came in of shots being heard in Wasdale Avenue. No sign of damage was found and no injuries reported.

"CCTV and other enquiries are ongoing, and officers remain in the area to carry out further searches and gather information.
