Investigation launched after 'stabbing' in Cheadle park

Police have launched an investigation after a young man was found injured in a Stockport park.

Officers were called by the ambulance service to reports of an injured male in Bruntwood Park, Cheadle, yesterday afternoon.

Witnesses said a field near the BMX track was cordoned off amid reports the victim was stabbed during a robbery.

A spokesperson for GMP was unable to confirm the nature of the injuries or the age of the victim.

The force said in a statement: "At around 3.25pm on Sunday 15 November 2020, police were called by the ambulance service responding to reports of an injured male in Bruntwood Park."

"An investigation is underway.

"Anyone with information should contact police quoting 1734 of 15/11/20 or the independent charity - Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
