Investigation launched after shots fired between two cars in Trafford

Shots were fired between two cars during a daytime shootout in Trafford.

Police were called to Penny Bridge Lane, close to Trafford Football Club in Flixton, on Friday afternoon.

It is believed two groups of men in two cars fired shots at each other before driving off.

GMP confirmed on Saturday morning that one of the vehicles had been recovered and investigation work was underway.

As it stands, there have been no arrests and police are not aware of any injuries.

Forensic teams were also seen examining the area.

GMP said: "At around 2:40pm on Friday, March 13, police were called to a report of a firearms discharge on Penny Bridge Lane in Flixton.

"Two groups of men fired shots at one another and fled the scene.

"Police have recovered one of the vehicles used during the incident.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

"Police are not aware of any injuries as a result of the shooting."
