Investigation launched after shots fired at a car in Salford

An investigation has been launched after reports shots were fired at a car in Salford.

Police rushed to the scene following the incident on Willows Road on Saturday night.

The road was cordoned off at the junction with Weaste Lane.

Photos from the scene showed officers in hazmat suits examining evidence and taking pictures from within the cordon.

Police officers were also pictured patrolling the area.

A police van was parked within the cordon.

No arrests have been made.

Residents reported hearing loud bangs before finding police 'everywhere'.

A GMP spokesman said: "Shortly before 8.25pm on Saturday, February 23, police were called to reports that shots had been fired at a car on Weaste Lane in Salford.

"Officers attended but the offenders had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

"There are no reported injuries.

"Officers found evidence that shots had been fired on Willows Road and a cordon was put in place whilst enquiries were carried out at the scene.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
