Investigation launched after Morrisons security guard is racially abused

Police are investigating after a supermarket security guard was racially abused in Newcastle.

The victim was at work in the Morrisons in West Denton when he was targeted with racially abusive language.

Officers have been trying to identify the person responsible for the incident which occurred on Wednesday, May 22.

They have now released a CCTV image of a man they think might be able to help with the investigation.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Police are continuing to carry out enquiries to identify the person responsible.

"And now officers have released an image of a man who was in the store at the time and may be able to assist police.

"The man, or anyone who knows him, should contact police on 101 quoting reference 065001K/19.

"You can also report on the Northumbria Police website or email the investigating officer on  1188@northumbria.pnn.police.uk ."
