Investigation launched after Melvin Trotman dies following fight at address in Chadwell Heath

Detectives have named a man who died following a brawl in east London.

Melvin Trotman, 35, was found unconscious after police were called to reports of a fight at a residential address in Chadwell Heath at about 10.20pm on May 27.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition but died two days later.

The death is being treated as unexplained. A post mortem has been carried out but more forensic tests are needed to establish the exact cause of death.

A man, 25, was arrested at the scene in Cross Road on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. Police believe Mr Trotman, from South Woodford, and the arrested man were known to each other.

Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command are investigating.
