Investigation launched after man walks into Leeds hospital with slash wounds

Police have launched an investigation after a man walked into a Leeds hospital with slash wounds to his arm and hand.

The man, who is in his 40s, was treated at St James's University Hospital after being admitted to A&E at around 12.50am on Tuesday, January 28.

The injuries were not found to be life-threatening.

West Yorkshire Police officers were called to the scene and forensic investigators examined a car parked near the hospital, which may have been used by the man.

A police spokesman said: "A car parked nearby was identified as being linked to the victim and was recovered after the scene around it was subject to forensic examination.

"Detectives are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 and quote crime reference 13200049197 or online."

Elsewhere, the force is still trying to track down the shooter who put two people in hospital and prompted armed officers to lock down an A&E department.

A 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman arrived at Leeds General Infirmary with gunshot wounds on Saturday, January 25, after a shooting in Eltham Rise, Woodhouse, at around 9pm.

Armed officers were then stationed inside the A&E department while they received treatment.

The man has been treated for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening and the woman was discharged over the weekend.
