Investigation launched after man's body is found in Sunderland home

An investigation has been launched after a man's body was discovered inside a house in Sunderland.

Detectives have confirmed that the death is currently being treated as 'unexplained' and enquiries are under way.

Emergency services were called to Aintree Road in the Farringdon area at around noon on Wednesday following reports of concern for a man.

Officers attended and found the deceased man at the scene.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after midday we were alerted by the ambulance service to concern for a male at an address on Aintree Road, Sunderland.

“Emergency services attended and found the body of a man, whose death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Inquiries are ongoing.”
