Investigation launched after eight vehicles are torched in County Durham

Police are investigating after eight cars were torched in a suspected arson attack in County Durham.

The cars were parked in a car park at Winterton Cottages, Sedgefield, when the incident happened on Sunday.

Officers say the suspected attack happened at some point between 10pm and 11.15pm.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: "Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or has dashcam footage in the area at that time.

"If you have any information, contact Detective Constable Tony Ruggiero at Bishop Auckland CID by calling 101 and quoting incident 505 of May 31."
