An investigation has been launched after a body was discovered early this morning in south Dublin.
The grim discovery was made shortly after 7am in Blackrock Park along the DART line at the back of a retail garage on the Rock Road.
DART services were suspended for several hours after emergency services raced to the scene.
The age an identity of the victim is not yet known and gardai said there was no obvious signs of injury on the body.
The are has been preserved and the state pathologist is currently at the scene.
A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live the results of a postmortem would determine the course of their investgation.
She said: "Gardai are currently at scene following the discovery of a body in Blackrock Park, Dublin this morning 17th September 2020.
"The body remains at scene and will be removed for post mortem examination at a later date, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation. No further information available at this time."
Gardai will examine missing persons records in an attempt to establish the identity of the victim.
